Fishing Season

The Fishing Season runs from the 1st of February to the 30th of September each year. A state licence is required for fishing for salmon on the Moy, which can be purchased from local tackle shops, pubs, etc. Please note that the state have severely restricted the number of salmon that can be taken from the river. This varies from year to year and you are advised to cheeck what the current regulations are.

Recommended Fishing Methods

Coolcronan is primarily a bait and spinning fishery. However, in low water conditions the Rock Pool fishes well on the fly. Plenty of success has been had by using the bubble float and fly method. Single handed fly rods can be used from the boats. Fishing tackle is available for hire.
